End of Session Program (Nigeria)

Firstfruits Christian Academy rounded off its second academic session with its first annual inter-house sports competition and prize giving day today. The event began with an opening prayer and welcome address by the Principal Mr. Bernard Oborgu.

The event brought together 70 pupils and students and all staff members of the Firstfruits Christian Academy (FFCA), several parents and neighbours including children from other schools.

A colourful parade preceded the sporting activities. The students were grouped according to classes beginning with the pre-nursery and nursery, primary section and the secondary students. They all matched around the school field to the music played live by some selected students with a parent taking the salute amidst loud cheering from the spectators.

After the parade, they grouped themselves according to Houses to start the inter-house competitions. There are four Houses: White, Yellow, Blue and Red. Races organized include 100 metres senior and junior boy and girls, sack race for senior boys and girls. The White House came out tops, Yellow House was second, Blue House third and Red House came fourth.

Parents and teachers were not left out of the fun as they were cheered by excited students who watched them challenge themselves in the various races: Female teachers, Male teachers, Female parents, Male parents also participated in the 100 metres race.

Highlight of the event was when prices were given to deserving students and proud parents rushed out of their seats to celebrate their children as their names were being mentioned. Prices were given to the two best students in Nursery 1 and 2, Primary 1, 2 and 3 and JS1, JS2 and JS3, best behaved student in the school, most punctual student and the neatest student.

Light refreshment was served and the ends of session results were issued to the parents. The new session will begin on 9th September 2013.
