Greetings, as we always like to say, we are very happy to share with you our Ethiopian Reaching Beyond Words NGO report.
We would like to tell you the following things we have accomplished in the month of August 2017.
For us here in Ethiopia August is the end of the year. In Ethiopia, the calendar lags roughly seven years behind that of Europe and North America so we are finishing up our year of 2009 and on September 11th we begin the year 2010.
For this new year we have purchased new school materials, new school bags, uniforms, and writing books, pens, pencils etc., and distributed them to all our supported 75 children. The other thing we like to do once a year is have a get-together day. In this day we distribute different books and give a reward for the top ranked students. But this year we have decided instead of giving books we would purchase T-Shirts, and print on it the Reaching Beyond Words logo. We have received some donations in kind from the Filipino Brother Elias and his family; he shared some pens, pencils and writing books. God bless him. Not only Brother Elias but other friends of mine also brought the same thing for our children. This helped us to minimize the purchasing cost of things, which is always a big help.
As usual we had meetings once in a month with all our children and their families, we discussed about the new coming school year education, how they can help their children to study hard and keep their personal hygiene.
Right now, we have 8 widows and single mothers in training with sister Lemlem. They are learning how to make coffee mats, earrings, different crafts, and other important lessons. They are in good progress and some of them already started their small business while in the training.
In all, I would say our ongoing work has seen progress and God’s provision.
