Firstfruits Christian Academy Progress (Nigeria)

First Fruits Sept11 (4)Firstfruits Christian Academy continues to be a value oriented co-educational school poised for excellence whose goal is to mold character on Christian principles. The school officially began on the 12th of September with the nursery and primary and secondary arms. It is located in a low cost housing estate in Chokwota, Rivers state, Nigeria.

We presently have thirty six students (twelve boys and twenty four girls) who reside in the estate. We have seven teachers and a head teacher. The school currently runs day system but intends to begin the boarding system by the next school year. Right now, we are faced with the challenge of finding  teachers with the right profile (both professional and Christian).

Secondly, it is a capital intensive project. We have been able to put up a block and half (15 classrooms and 8 staff offices) but we still need to build the boarding facilities. We would like to have the boarding house as it will give us the space and time to work with the children on Bible study and other Christian activities.

We are now in our sixth month since inception. We started with 32 children but the number has now gone up to 36. We have all the government recommended core subjects. We have not yet introduced some of the elective courses to avoid the cost but are hoping that all the elective courses will be part of the program by the next academic year.
