Hello to All,
We at the Ethiopian Reaching Beyond Words NGO would like to express our warmest greetings to all of you, as we are always very happy to share our ongoing work and our accomplishments for the month of March.
As usual we were very busy doing many things in the NGO’s work. We continue to have regular meetings with our beneficiaries and their families. During our meetings we share the practical ways of living a better life for all of them in different ways. On Saturday mornings we teach the children for one hour and one to two days during the week we have an hour session with the single parents and widows. We have noticed that as we work with the children on scholastic skills, as well as ways of behaving properly, that their grades have improved at school. The single mothers and widows have also noticed improvements at work. We not only want to teach them learning skills but also ways of improving their home life and bettering their attitude of themselves and others. The ten widows and single mothers are continuing their training with good progress. The ladies meet three days a week every week for two hour sessions each time. Due to this training, we have seen fruits from the 10 widows and single mothers who were in the 2015 Widows Program and who are now working hard and their savings accounts are very nice. In fact, two of the ladies have been doing so well that they are close to putting back into their savings the 3000 Birr seed money that was given them in December. It is such a blessing to see the children and families succeed.
We had our annual General Assembly meeting on March 12, 2016. It was a very good time and those two widows were present and shared their success stories to those attending the meeting. The government officials for our area were present and acknowledged our work with great appreciation. We had some money contributed to the NGO on that day. We are very glad, because our new rented office compound is helping our work a lot. We started having our tutorial classes, meetings, widows and single mothers’ training in our new office. It has greatly helped for everyone to not have to go to different places for the various meetings. Our social worker is continuing to visit our orphans and children in their family homes. During her visits she gives advice or counseling about how to study hard and how to raise their children properly, etc.
We had moral and support training for two full days, for all our 75 children and families. The training was very helpful as they learned about personal hygiene and sanitation and how to work with awareness. We had a very good time and they were listening very attentively and eagerly. We thank God for all His great help and we also thank each of you for all your lovely contributions. May God bless You All!!
