We come to you once again to report many praises to God Who has so faithfully been with us in this great endeavor with the Ethiopian NGO (non-governmental organization). We would like to share with you the progress we are seeing in the program and how we have been able to accomplish so much this month of May.
Just a little bit of information for those that have never been to Addis Ababa. May can often be the hottest month. However, nighttime temperatures do fall quickly, with average low temperatures of around 2°C/36°F. Addis Ababa is the fourth highest National Capital City in the World at 2,600 Metres/8,380 Ft. above sea level, which is one of the reasons the weather can be cooler at times.
In the NGO we make an extra effort to meet with the children, mothers and widows. We had three meetings in May. During one of the meetings, the children were in one room having a very good time singing and learning Bible stories. At the same time, the women were meeting with Bro. Jemal and Bro. Fikre discussing some very good practical things on family planning and how to help the children in school with their homework and how to be diligent students.
The widows have begun their vocational training on learning knitting and practical crafts they can sell which we are very pleased to see. In addition to that, all the bracelets the women made were sold, which enabled a savings accountant for each woman to be opened. This is quite an accomplishment for these ladies.
We have also visited the tutorial school to speak with the teachers about each child in the program to see how they are doing and find out ways we can help the children improve in their schooling.
There is a woman that has joined our program recently as a new employee which we are quite excited about as she has experience working in programs such as ours. She has a genuine desire to help the women and children, as we can already see as she works with the beneficiaries.
As you can tell we have been quite busy. We also made sure all of the children underwent their medical check ups. The widows are going to have their medical check ups next week.
Thank you all for praying with us and for us in this special endeavor to help those in need. We are so grateful for the opportunity to help these ones and thank God for His wisdom and strength.
May God Richly Bless You All,
The ETH NGO Team
