Yes, you did read that right it is the year 2018 in Ethiopia. Enkutatash, the Ethiopian New Year, is a celebration of renewal, gratitude, and hope. Unlike many other countries, Ethiopia follows its own unique calendar with 13 months—12 months of 30 days each, and a short 13th month called Pagume (or Pagumen), with 5 days and 6 days every leap year. Ethiopian calendar is about seven years different from the Gregorian calendar, making our New Year one of the most distinctive. |
Falling every September 11/12, Enkutatash marks the end of the rainy season and the arrival of sunshine, with fields blooming in golden daisies, known as ‘Adey,’ flower. It is a time when families and friends come together to share joy, reflect on the year gone by, and welcome the future with hope. |
We continue to keep very busy with the Reaching Beyond Words outreach. The children have just returned back to school after their summer break. The widows and single mothers continue with their training and those that have finished their training begin their new businesses. We Praise God for his continued hand of guidance. We are quite happy that the armor of God book is translated and printed now, in time for the Bible classes we have with the young people. We also completed the translation of the coloring book that details many stories from the Bible. 😊😊 Praise God one of young people, Belaynesh Melaku an adult now has graduated from Gage university in Addis Ababa with her marketing Managing degree. She has been with us since 2015. God Bless her as she now has a job and no longer needs the RBW support. We are a family at Reaching Beyond Words and as Brother Jemal says one of our daughters has grown up. May God Bless you for your faithful prayer support and donations, it means a lot to us.
