November 28, 2012
This time we started our visit to the school by attending the first ever meeting of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the school. It rained heavily that day so the turnout was not very high. Nevertheless, it was good to meet the parents we had not met before. In this first meeting we tried to have a common understanding of the functions of a PTA. A Caretaker Committee was appointed to set up the structure of the PTA. We are collecting constitutions of other PTAs and want to develop one for the consideration of our PTA. The second meeting was held later on (after we had left) and they have now elected persons to run the PTA. One of the purposes of PTA is to help the individuals involved think on how they can contribute to the vision of the school and not necessarily what they can profit from it. By the grace of God, we hear that things are turning out well.
Inspection Visit of officials of the Ministry of Education to the School
Four Inspectors of the Ministry of Education came to inspect the school in view of the application for approval we made in 2010. They were favorably impressed by what they saw, especially as it concerns size of the compound, space of the classrooms, the library and the science laboratory. Prior to the visit, a sister in our fellowship who had worked as an Education Inspector went with us to the school, checked all our books, made the teachers update all our documents and prepared us for the inspection.
We were asked to go and see the inspectors’ Director in the Office for an interview. When we went he asked us about our qualifications and interest in setting up a school. After that he advised us to acquire more land to separate the Elementary and Secondary sections.
The inspectors also asked us to submit a number of documents and pictures to them which we did. We pray there will be no delays but the Lord will help to speed up the process of getting the approval now in order for the 9th graders to participate in the government exams next year.
We felt the grace of God with us in all the encounters we had this time. We continue to trust His leading and guidance.
